// INNOVATION PAYS DUE TO IPC SUBSIDY

Innovation pays! IPC subsidy gives JOYinCARE on the move a head start on the competition. The ZorgTotaal trade fair that was held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, at the end of March saw the presentation of the Touch&Move hoist product line by JOYinCARE on the move.
The development of the hoist was possible thanks to an IPC (Innovation Performance Contract) subsidy. Indes played a co-ordinating role in the establishment of this subsidy, which was used to develop and test a number of other Touch&Move versions in a very short period of time.

In a period when the competition is marking time, JOYinCARE on the move has been able to surprise the market with an innovative product. A unique characteristic of the Touch&Move hoist is that it contains an electric auxiliary motor that significantly simplifies the manoeuvrability of heavy hoists. In recent decades, the use of hoists has grown in the health care sector due to their ability to greatly reduce physical exertion during lifting. However, moving the hoists presented a new and serious problem.
Touch&Move technology developed by Indes for JOYinCARE on the move makes it possible to use and control a hoist electronically with only two fingers. This method, therefore, remains in line with the methods care providers are already familiar with.

The Touch&Move was featured on RTL television at the beginning of March. In the programme, a care provider enthusiastically explained how the Touch&Move works. ‘It took some getting used to in the beginning, but you soon get the hang of it. It is much lighter, which enables me to walk alongside the hoist and remain in contact with the patient.’

Touch&Move products will be available from June.

// SUBSIDY SCHEME SUPPORTS DURABLE PROJECTS

The temporary subsidy scheme for emerging markets (TSOM) is a scheme that enables Dutch entrepreneurs to make investments in India and China that might otherwise prove to be risky. Dutch companies can benefit from positioning themselves in emerging markets at an early stage, while the countries in which investments are being made can benefit from the incorporation of Dutch expertise and knowledge.

The scheme is aimed at Dutch companies with distinctive knowledge, products and services, who can position themselves strongly and quickly in fast-growing and highly competitive markets. Established by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Agency for International Business and Cooperation (EVD), the scheme focuses exclusively on sustainable projects.

Indes decided to participate in this scheme, because it makes it possible to establish production facilities in China for several strategic projects, all of which focus on the development and production of intelligent products for use in the health care sector. These products are equipped with innovative power assisted technology (electric auxiliary motors). The systems will be fitted with the latest environmentally friendly technologies, making them truly sustainable.
These projects are currently in the development phase. Production will require substantial investment in moulds and tools, for which the TSOM scheme provides significant support. A long-term partnership with a Chinese company will be entered into for the production phase.

   THE SPRIZER

The Sprizer, which was designed and produced by Indes, is a highly innovative product for the facilitation of home care.
With its distinctive and innovative design, and high-quality production in China, this product has been inundated with awards.

Since the Sprizer was launched by Geleen-based company Arion International in October last year, it has received three awards – the highly prestigious Red Dot Design Award, the ZorgTotaal Innovation Award and the CAD Magazine Award. At the Red Dot Award product design competition, the jury – comprised of experts in the field – awarded the Sprizer the ‘Red Dot’ quality hallmark for the quality of its design.
The Sprizer was named the winner in the category ‘labour-saving technology’ by the ZorgTotaal jury. The product is efficiently and cost-effectively manufactured in China under the supervision of the local Indes organisation in Ningbo and has been available since late last year.

// INDES METHOD FOR THE EVALUATION OF MEDICAL AIDS

Indes has developed a systematic method for the evaluation of medical aids. This method includes workshops, panel interviews and user tests organised by Indes. The technical, functional and regulatory aspects of the products are also assessed. The results are used to chart the gap between market demand and product possibilities.

Indes provides support to its customers in the evaluation of medical products, using our methods to validate the primary question: ‘Is this the correct medical aid, is it the correct design in the correct market?". This question arises during the expansion of the portfolio with a new OEM product, when changes are made to an existing product or production process, or when the packaging is altered. The introduction of a new product is only useful if this is in line with the working method and user situations in the intended markets and trade areas. When changes or alterations need to be made to the existing OEM product, these can be highlighted at an early stage and carried out in consultation with the supplier. A delta specification is used to record the additional requirements so that the modifications to the product or packaging can be implemented efficiently.

Current customers include Philips Healthcare and Schering-Plough / Organon
